I’ve discussed this topic with the vet; he explained that Ragdolls need 50% – 60% protein, up to 20% fat, and 2% to 3% fat. Protein is more important for Ragdolls at an early age until they become adults because of the growth factor. While a mature ragdoll doesn’t require the same amount of protein.

Should Ragdolls Have Wet or Dry Food?

Wet or dry cat food both are good for Ragdolls. However, you should know that a cup of wet cat food doesn’t contain high calories like dry cat food.

Generally, 100 grams of wet food contains up to 100 kcal. While the same amount of Ragdoll dry food will have around 300 kcal to 350 kcal. This is why, if you’re feeding wet food to your Ragdoll, ensure the amount of food is at least double when serving. Otherwise, you can also go with dry cat food.

I usually recommend serving a mix of dry and wet cat food to my Ragdoll. It’s a good practice because wet food protects the kidney of your cat by providing moisture and water, and dry food helps in meeting the requirements of kcal. If you don’t like mixing, add two bowls; put wet food in one and dry food in the other.

How Often to Feed Ragdoll Cats?

It’s important to know how often you should feed Ragdoll cats. Overfeeding leads to being overweight, and serving not enough food may become the cause of health issues. In short, both situations are extremely dangerous, so avoid them by providing the right amount of food.

First, don’t forget to weigh your cat each week or once in at least two weeks. It will help you understand whether your Ragdoll cat is overweight or not. If it’s overweight or underweight, contact the vet and change the diet according to the suggestions.

Can Ragdoll Eat Vegetables?

Nevertheless, it doesn’t mean you can’t serve vegetables to your Ragdolls at all. You can as a treat. Let’s suppose you’re teaching your cat to use a litter box, she’s doing good; to encourage her, you can provide a small portion of potato or any other vegetable.
